Blue Mind connects the dots: neuroscience and psychology, nature and conservation, art and science, poetry and practice in profoundly important new ways. The result is an emerging, exciting, fast growing new field we call ‘neuroconservation' and a strong move towards the true value of wild, healthy lakes, rivers, oceans, and waterways.
The early benefits of this inquiry have already influenced many sectors including: Water, Food & Energy Infrastructure, Environment & Conservation, Technology & Innovation, Health & Wellbeing, Education & Parenting, Arts, Design & Architecture, Real Estate & Planning, Travel & Tourism, Sports & Recreation (WET HEARTS).
Blue Mind helps those working within these sectors to do their jobs better by providing deeper insights about the science of “our brains on water.” As we expand the “ecosystem services” conversation to include the vast array of cognitive, emotional, psychological, social, and spiritual benefits offered by clean, healthy waterways we open the door to new ways of thinking as well as new ways of doing business.
Water, Food & Energy Infrastructure: Clean and healthy water, food and energy are the interconnected bases of society. The vast emotional benefits of getting them right are important to recognize along with basic nutrition, hydration, commerce, and hygiene. How do food, water and energy make you happy? In this sector we work with Clean Energy, Municipal Water Companies, Organic Farms, and Water Monitoring Technology Firms.
Environment & Conservation: To protect and restore wild waterways and oceans (aka blue space) - as well and the lands and wetland that surround them (green space) - we need a much better story. Too often our tools have been fear, guilt, anger, and factoids. Traditionally, we’ve focused exclusively on the ecological, economic, and educational value of water, overlooking the emotional benefits. By including this fourth “e”, Blue Mind enhances and expands the critical work of environmental and conservation organizations and agencies, growing the global blue movement, and brightening the green.
In this sector we work with Non-Profits, Government Agencies, Environmental Consultants, and Media.
Technology & Innovation: Sometimes real water isn’t available. Through cutting edge technology we can bring oceans and waterways to people through sound apps, virtual reality, compelling films, and innovative museum and aquarium exhibits. How? Blue Mind boosts creativity.
In this sector we work with Virtual Reality Start-ups, Think Tanks, Blue Apps and Indices, and Water Monitoring Technologies.
Health & Wellbeing: Research shows that as high as 60% of modern disease and illness relates to stress. Consistently people report that their go-to place for stress release of all kinds is by the water. Why? Blue Mind.
In this sector on focus is on Hospital Gift Shops, Medical Professionals from Birth through End of Life Care, Float Centers, Health Spas, Yoga Studios, Wellness Clinics and Retreats.
Education & Parenting: What’s the big secret some parents and educators know that helps kids focus, relax, connect, motivate, and learn? Water. Its motivating property sends signals to the brain that create an environment conducive to learning. What is that? Blue Mind.
Our mission is to ensure that all parents, teachers, school adminstrators, aquariums, science centers, camps, and universities understand and integrate Blue Mind in their programs.
We work closely with Museums, Aquariums & Science Centers, Universities, Public, Private & Home Schools, Education Conferences, and Media.
Arts, Design, & Architecture: There is a design movement underway to bring more blue space into our lives, our towns and cities, our homes and workplaces. Studies show it is good for us, boosts creativity and productivity, and has a positive impact on our lives. Why? Blue Mind.
We collaborate with Artists, Galleries, Coffee Shops, Trade Associations, Architects, and Landscapers.
Real Estate & Planning: Recently Zillow analyzed their vast real estate database and found that on average a water view more than doubles the sales price per square foot of any given property. For all waters, all over the world. Why? Blue Mind.
Our partners include Real Estate Agents, Associations, Planning Departments, Restoraion Projects and Economic Development Efforts.
Travel & Tourism: Flip through an in-flight magazine, watch a travel show, or conduct an informal survey and you’ll quickly learn that water and travel go together. It’s where we go to unwind, fall in love, celebrate, and restore. Why? Blue Mind.
We are expanding our efforts with Resorts, Hotels, Cruise Lines, and B&B’s in Waterfront Communities as well as Airlines, Travel Websites, Tourism Boards, Travel Conferences and Media.
Sports & Recreation: Are you familiar with this medicine kit? Boats, boards, paddles, fins, goggles, sails, poles, waders, wetsuits, tubs, pools. Good medicine – with no negative side effects – is to be found in the water sports industry. Why? Blue Mind.
This sector is expanding quickly with Dive Shops, Surf Shops, Boating Shops, Outdoor Stores, Wild River Outfitters, the Swim/Pool Industry and related Media & Conferences.
We will continue to work across these sectors with an emphasis on specific leading agencies, institutions, businesses, and organizations.
