Life at Barefoot Lakes is enhanced by the principle of blue mind science: the theory that there are tangible neurological, psychological and emotional benefits to connecting with water spaces. Proposed by marine biologist Wallace Nichols in his book Blue Mind, blue mind science is supported by the commonly shared attitude that lakeside living is relaxing and wholesome. “If you come in contact with water regularly, it has major positive effects on energy, stress and attitude,” says Ethan Demby, Director of Integration at Art + Business ONE, the brand and marketing firm for Barefoot Lakes.
Colorado’s three hundred or more days of sunshine afford locals with plenty of time outside, and Barefoot Lakes ensures that its residents have everything they need to live a lifestyle shaped by blue mind science. With features like the 12-acre Peninsula Park, an extensive nature trail system, and two glittering lakes, it’s obvious that nature and lakeside living are core components of the lifestyle within this community. But Barefoot Lakes also recognizes that balance is admirable, and not every day will be perfect for the outdoor activities so adored by residents. That’s where The Cove comes in.
The Cove provides residents with a combination of active experiences, both indoor and outdoor. “The Cove is a great expression of the community where you can relax and retreat or explore and adventure,” says Rick Dengler, President Brookfield Residential Colorado. The impressive, 7,000-square-foot recreation facility offers year-round fun and enjoyment for all who live in the community. Situated on the eastern portion of the community’s WaterSide neighborhood, right along an open space gulch, The Cove is situated amidst a natural backdrop.
Accessible for Barefoot Lakes residents, The Cove boasts a number of exciting features that will engage all types of families and individuals. The outdoor pool at The Cove offers a beach-style entry with kids play equipment as well as a six-lane lap pool section for athletes seeking a great competitive workout. Also outdoors, residents will find two pickleball courts and a multi-use court. Of course, the iconic nature trail system connects The Cove to the rest of the community, weaving through the surrounding neighborhood and down to the lakes. The outdoor space at The Cove also features a barbecue and grill area that residents can rent, as well as two fire pits that provide unique gathering spaces to enjoy a glass of wine around the fire at night – especially as cooler weather sets in this fall.
The inside of The Cove is a special space for the rare rainy day, or when snow coats the ground. Residents will find state-of-the-art fitness equipment in the fitness room as well as a group fitness area and flex workout room for yoga, pilates, and other fitness classes. The YMCA will be managing The Cove’s indoor fitness spaces, providing staffing and leading classes in the space. Inside of The Cove residents will also find amenities like a self-service coffee bar, a work station with USB plug-ins, and two different rooms available to rent for your next event. Both rooms have access to a catering kitchen to keep your guests comfortable and well-fed.
While access to The Cove is resident-exclusive, guests can pay a fee to visit the recreation facility. Barefoot Lakes will host a grand opening party at The Cove for residents on September 7. The event will allow residents to familiarize themselves with this new amenity and revel in the indoor spaces as colder months approach. Tours are available to potential homeowners.
The Cove opens just one day before the exciting 3rd Annual Barefoot Lakes 5k/10k on September 8. Registration is open at barefootlakes.com on the Events page, where you can also find more information about the race. “This year, we’ve partnered with Endurance Race Series again, the largest trail race series in Colorado,” says Demby. Endurance Race Series (ERS) hosts a multitude of races across the state and also in San Diego. They will manage the Barefoot Lakes 5K/10K and host the finish line festival at Peninsula Park, the perfect location for any afternoon festival with its pavilions, playground, picnic tables and amphitheater dotted amidst broad, grassy lawns. The finish line festival will feature a cookout and a Vendor Village with local businesses as well as all of the Barefoot Lakes home builders. Bring your gently used running shoes for donation.
Barefoot Lakes knows that a diverse community is a healthy one, and it also recognizes that every homeowner will have different aspirations and lifestyles. For that reason,
Barefoot Lakes offers home options from five builders: Brookfield Residential, CreekStone Homes, KB Home, Lennar Homes and Richmond American Homes.
Working together, these builders offer a selection of designs and price points that are just as diverse as the residents themselves. From grand and expansive homes that are made for entertaining to more modest homes for the laid-back owner, Barefoot Lakes has something for everyone.
If low-maintenance sounds great, but sharing doesn’t, Brookfield Residential’s Ovation Portfolio is for you. The single family homes in the Ovation Portfolio include both main-floor ranch plans as well as two-story ones, starting in the low $400s. The model homes in the Ovation Portfolio also feature lake views. Barefoot Lakes will host a grand opening for the Ovation Portfolio on September 7 at 10 a.m.
For a limited time, Brookfield Residential is offering an excellent perk with any Ovation Portfolio home. Any purchases or contracts made between September 2 and October 31 will receive a Whirlpool-brand side-by-side refrigerator and washer and dryer. Richmond American Homes features traditional family style homes starting in the $400s. They offer a variety of floor plans with five designs to choose from, giving families plenty of space to relax or entertain, indoors or outdoors.
Lennar offers floor plans at Barefoot Lakes starting from the low $400s. Lennar’s Pioneer Collection in the community has four distinct floor plans, each showcasing modern design details, spacious open-concept living areas and Colorado rooms for indoor-outdoor living. They now have two model homes from this collection at Barefoot Lakes: The Chelton and The Evans.
KB Home recently joined the building community of Barefoot Lakes. They feature value-oriented family homes from the high $300s. Buyers can choose from a range of ranch and two-story plans and the option to build out the basement space or convert a den or loft into an additional bedroom. The newest builder, CreekStone Homes, just came on deck for the 2019 building season and they will have homes in the WaterSide neighborhood.
