I have always thought that I looked better and felt better when I was at the beach. I know I'm not the first person to have felt this way: in fact I think everyone has felt this at one point or another. What I didn’t know though is that a profound change actually does happen when we are near water. The book Blue Mind by Wallace J. Nichols proves that you change both neurologically and physiologically when you are by the ocean.
My longstanding love affair with the ocean (we've been involved for a while now) and the fact that it's always made me the best version of myself (as your significant other should, right?) were on one side of the coin when it came to inspiration for my new beauty brand, One Ocean.
The other side of the coin was the fact that, in beauty, I’ve always felt like there are too many choices. In other words, our relationship is complicated. I'm thinking this is something everyone can relate to. It's all too overwhelming. I wanted to have one product that’s quick and works.
This led me on a personal search of what was going on in the beauty industry. What I found was that there are two sides of the spectrum: natural products that aren’t necessarily clean at all (and if they are clean, they don’t usually have active ingredients that create results), and the second high technology products with active ingredients that are very dirty.
There’s clean, and then there’s clean. One Ocean’s high performance products not only work, but they’re non-toxic, clean, sustainable…the list of buzz words goes on. And, unlike so many beauty brands, we can actually use all of them.
One Ocean Beauty is clean, centered around extraordinary marine ingredients and peptides, doesn’t make your head hurt (i.e. one product that actually works, not ten versions of one), and also does good for the oceans. The ocean brings both balance and happiness into my life and I wanted to create a beauty brand that did just that. Look good. Feel good. Do good.
