Hawksbills Are Too Rare To Wear
HELP US END THE SALE OF TURTLESHELL PRODUCTS IN LATIN AMERICA
In the 1990's we started an ocean revolution and changed the conversation about sea turtles along the Pacific coast of the Americas and sea turtle hunters helped bring them back from the brink. In the 2000's we highlighted the impact plastic pollution has on sea turtles and thier habitats and jumpstarted a global movement towards cleaner seas. In the 2010's built an international conservation travel network that redefined the value of wild sea turtles around the world and we've been working towards putting a billion baby turtles back in the ocean. Now we're focusing on reducing the demand for turtleshell products in the western hemisphere.
Together we are creatively ensuring that the world's sea turtles make a comeback.
Hawksbill sea turtles are one of the most beautiful and important species in the ocean. They help coral reefs thrive and are a thrill for divers and snorkelers to see in the wild.
But they have been hunted to the edge of extinction for their colorful shell. Their shell (also known as "tortoiseshell") is turned into jewelry and other products that are sold to across Latin America & the Caribbean in markets and souvenir shops.
Join our campaign to help end the demand for turtleshell products including jewelry, guitar picks, combs, & more. Together we’ll bring back these precious sea turtles.
