What if winning political candidates all pledged to run on water?
Posted on Oct 22nd, 2017
It's our hope that all winning candidates in 2020 will run on water, the source of life and the tonic that makes life worth living. Sign and share the pledge HERE.
Water is also medicine for those who need it most and restoring its health is the single best action we can take to ensure our countries thrive together.
Our goal between now and November 2020 is to convince political candidates at every level of government all around the world to "run on water". In the last several election cycles water in any form - solid, liquid, gas, lake, river or ocean - was rarely, if ever, mentioned. That needs to change.
The full physical and mental health benefits of safe, clean, healthy water, blueways, and oceans are seldomly recognized but comprise our planet's most important resource. When anyone or anything is undervalued, bad things happen.
When waterways are restored and people learn to fully enjoy and protect them health, happiness and prosperity in all of our communities grow. Every single time.
The American Psychological Association reported an increase in national stress for the first time in a decade, according to their Stress in America survey. Water makes life possible and also makes life worth living. This is something we can all agree on and is especially important to remember in these "red mind" times as divisiveness, addiction, and terrorism dominate our headlines.
We call on leaders and candidates to:
Pledge that progress will be made to ensure all kids learn to swim.
Pledge that progress will be made to restore the dirtiest and most damaged waterways and water supplies.
Pledge to make access to water safe and open for everyone, especially those who need it most.
Update water talking points, water-related legislation, and policy to include the well-documented vast Blue Mind emotional benefits of water, blueways, and oceans.
Please send this petition to your representatives and ask your neighbors to join our call to "live blue".
Water is medicine for those who need it most and restoring its health is the single best action we can take to ensure our countries thrive together.
