Dr. Wallace "J" Nichols works to inspire a deeper, more active, connection with nature. J. is a Research Associate at the California Academy of Sciences and co-founder/director of Ocean Revolution, an international network of young ocean advocates; SEE the WILD, an international conservation travel portal; and LiVBLUE, a campaign to reconnect people with our water planet. He advises a motivated group of international graduate students and serves as an advisor to numerous non-profit boards and committees as part of his commitment to building a stronger, more progressive, and connected environmental community. Lately he is working with neuroscientists on reconnecting people with water through BLUEMiND: The Mind + Ocean Initiative. He is also endeavoring to share a blue marble through every hand on Earth. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
