Join Dr. Wallace “J” Nichols on this Conservation Adventure
Have you ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes of conservation projects of wild and endangered species? This is your chance to experience it! This January, RED Sustainable Travel is partnering with Grupo Tortuguero for the ultimate travel adventure. Join Grupo Tortuguero, a network of fishermen and local leaders, along with Grupo Tortuguero founder Dr. Wallace “J” Nichols for a hands-on experience in sea turtle conservation. RED invites adventure travelers, nature enthusiasts and volunteers alike to take part in community based conservation efforts.
The experience begins with Grupo Tortuguero becoming a quinceañera, as it celebrates its 15th Annual Meeting from January 25th to the 27th in Loreto, Baja California Sur, a 3 day intercultural celebration of the hard yet gratifying work of saving endangered sea turtles. Tag along to learn about sea turtle conservation directly from biologist and local conservation leaders. Then head to Magdalena Bay on a Gray Whale and Sea Turtle Conservation Adventure lead by Dr. “J” Nichols and join local fisherman in monitoring sea turtles. You will also have the chance to observe the mass migration of gray whales, one of this planet’s true natural wonders. Each year gray whales migrate by the thousands to the shallow and warm waters in Magdalena Bay to mate and to give birth. In your free time, you can paddle the mangroves by kayak, hike the desolate island dunes ofIsla Magdalena, observe wildlife, relax, and enjoy gourmet local cuisine.
The combination of the Grupo Tortuguero Annual Meeting with RED Sustainable Travel’s Gray Whale and Sea Turtle Conservation Adventure in Magdalena Bay provides a once in a lifetime opportunity to work alongside conservation biologists and local conservation leaders and experience one of North America's conservation success stories first hand. Come along for this unique opportunity to learn about and conserve endangered species.
