Why are we drawn to the ocean each summer? Why does being near water set our minds and bodies at ease?
In his book, Blue Mind, author Wallace J. Nichols revolutionizes how we think about these questions, revealing the remarkable truth about the benefits of being in, on, under, or simply near water.
For those living in Northern California, one place to get your "blue mind" on is the stretch of coast between Santa Cruz and San Francisco. It's been aptly named "The Slowcoast" for its rambling hills and slow going style of living.
It's a gorgeous drive along Highway 1 with lots of great spots to stop for exploring.
One of our favorite spots is the Whale City Bakery in Davenport. Perfect place to grab lunch after a nice hike along the beach.
