I marched, I talked, I read, I wore my peace button on national TV, and then I listened as hundreds of bombs dropped on an ancient city full of human beings. I see images of children burned and bloody, now homeless. I cry. I hug my daughter.
I know this war is wrong. And I know Saddam Hussein is an insane and dangerous man. I know in Iraq there are men who hate my country, our bombs, our bullets, who are my age with daughters like mine.
The sane and appropriate response to this war, for an American citizen, is to continue to express disapproval and to not ignore.
Each morning we will drink traditional Kurdish sweet tea with cardamom, instead of coffee, until the war is over. Our thoughts will go to those who are wounded or killed by this aggression.
I'm sending this to you in the hope that you'll join my family in this symbolic act of solidarity with Iraq's innocent people and the families of our lost ones.
