Where Literature Hits The Sreets
8:30 - 9:30 pm @ Red Poppy Art House
Catamaran Literary Reader celebrates its first year in print with readings by Bay Area contributors in fiction, poetry, and creative nonfiction. Featuring Chana Bloch, Margaret Elysia Garcia, Wallace J. Nichols, Judith Serin, and Alfredo Vea.
Chana Bloch, former director of the Mills College creative writing program, has published four books of poems and received the 2012 Meringoff Poetry Award.
Margaret Elysia Garcia’s poetry has appeared in Huizache Journal, Spiracle Journal, The Egg, and Random Accessed Poetics.
Wallace J. Nichols’ work has appeared in National Geographic, Scientific American, TIME, Newsweek, Outside, and others.
Judith Serin’s poetry collection Hiding in the World was published by Eidolon Edition. She teaches writing and literature at California College of the Arts.
Born on the outskirts of an Apache reservation in Arizona, Alfredo Vea is author of La Maravilla, The Silver Cloud Cafe, and Gods Go Begging.
Lit Crawl 2013, spread over more than three hours, will host live readings of poetry, fiction, non-fiction, and more in bookstores, bars, art galleries, restaurants, stores, cafés, a bowling alley, community spaces… even a police station. Watch us take over Clarion Alley (right under the eyes of the Mission Police Station!) for outdoor readings and performances.
ALL Lit Crawl readings are free and open to the public (although some venues are 21 and over). Please consider donating (yes, even $1 helps) to Litquake to help support our festival for years to come. Donation baskets can be found at each venue, as well as at the Lit Crawl HQ table in Clarion Alley on the night of the Crawl.
