As the Washington Post reported, marine biologist Wallace J. Nichols studied the effects of being near water on the human brain for decades, and came to an important conclusion.
His book "Blue Mind" discussed his findings that we enter a "mildly meditative, relaxed state ... when we are in, on or under water." But, if you don't have a beach house or live near a body of water, you can still reap its relaxing benefits every night when you hop into bed.
